Mission Statement

Increase International Understanding Through Contacts with Ambassadors, Consuls General, Consuls, Honorary Consuls, and Other Diplomats seeking a two way involvement.

The Diplomatic Relations Task Force encourages Rotary clubs to increase international understanding and awareness by extending membership invitations to Ambassadors, Consul Generals, Consuls and Honorary Consuls.  While not every city hosts a foreign embassy, consulate or trade office, Rotary clubs in cities where diplomats reside can invite such leaders to visit, speak at, or become members of Rotary's global network of 29,000 clubs in more than 160 countries.

Action Plan

  • Research and develop a reference resource on diplomatic missions in communities within each zone
  • Provide information to local clubs concerning diplomats residing or working in their area
  • Explain to clubs and districts that Rotary is the logical organization for a diplomat to belong to
  • Encourage clubs to extend invitations to such individuals to speak at regular club meetings and/or attend such meetings as potential members
